FORT LAUDERDALE–Fort Lauderdale attorney, Mary (Molly) Earnest of the Earnest/Tighe Law Firm, P.A. has received Florida Bar Board Certification in Real Estate Law. Certification is the highest level of evaluation by The Florida Bar of the experience and competency of an attorney in a given area of law.

Established in 1982 by the Florida Supreme Court, board certification recognizes attorneys’ professionalism and ethics in practice, plus special skills, knowledge, and proficiency in 24 areas of law approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida. Board certification was established by the Florida Supreme Court so that consumers can identify qualified legal specialists dedicated to professional excellence. Only 7 percent of eligible Florida Bar members are board certified.

To attain board certification in real estate law, an attorney must have practiced law on a full-time basis for at least five years, had substantial involvement — 40 percent or more — in the practice of real estate law during the three years immediately preceding application, passed peer review on professionalism and character, completed 45 hours of continuing legal education and passed a written examination demonstrating knowledge, skills and proficiency in the field of real estate law.
